Academic nominated for ASEAN-US Science Prize for Women

University of Nottingham Malaysia’s (UNMC) academic Professor Chong Mei Fong was nominated for the ASEAN-US Science Prize for Women 2017. Professor Chong from the University School of Engineering nomination was owing to her research which aims to provide a safe workplace while solving the pollution problems in ASEAN countries with rapid urbanisation.

Her research is on the invention of a bioreactor.

The awards which are presented to key female research in the area of Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics and Medicine and the winner will be announced at the 2017 ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on 19 October 2017 in Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar.

“I am really honoured to be nominated for this prestigious award.  I will continue to contribute to ASEAN through my research works and knowledge,” said Professor Chong

Professor Chong was the previous been the Chairperson for Gender Equality in Nottingham (GEN).
