UNM Careers Fair 2020: Unlock Your Future

UNM Careers Fair is back!

On 13th March, Careers Advisory Service (CAS) organised the annual University of Nottingham Malaysia (UNM) Careers Fair 2020. The event happened throughout the day from 10AM till 4PM, boasting a number of top employers in their respective industries and attracted the interests of over 2000 attendees. The event was held at The Great Hall of UNM where students got to meet and network with their potential employers and to see where would they fit in the working environment.

The opening ceremony was officiated by the head of CAS, Ms Alicia Ch’ng; Provost of Teaching & Learning, Professor Ong Fon Sim; and Director of student experience, Ms Mavis Tsang Mei Lin whereby balloons commenting both the careers fair and the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the university were popped out of larger balloons.

Companies that are invited to the Careers Fair are from different sectors, such as Pharmaceutical & Healthcare, ICT & Multimedia, Engineering & Property, to name a few. The companies include Doctor2U; GSK Malaysia; HAYS Malaysia; Manulife; Maybank; OCBC Bank; Public Bank; Panasonic, RHB Bank; Samsung; Shopee; Top Glove; Vinda Group SEA, Wipro Unza and more.

This year, with the support of OCBC Bank & HAYS Malaysia, the CAS team in an effort to boost the student’s employability has included events such as ‘Speed CV Review’ which is a session where professional recruiters comb thought a CV to help improve it. The other event would be the ‘LinkedIn Professional Photo Session’ where the CAS team provide a personalised session for students to obtain their shots to be used on LinkedIn or on their CVs.

Prior to Careers Fair, CAS took an initiative to conduct Pre-Careers Fair Series where the team organised several careers talks in order to equip and prepare the students with employability skills sought by the employers before the big event itself — “CV Writing” by Samsung, “Interview Skills” and “Assessment Centre” by Hays, “CV Critique Day” by Malayan Flour Mill (MFM) and “How to Ace the Careers Fair” by Teach for Malaysia (TFM). The events received such overwhelming responses from the students, where they had the chance to get the first-hand information from the employers.

Last but not least, Careers Advisory Service would like to thank everyone who involved in the execution of this successful event. We truly appreciate the tremendous support from all of you!
