[Invitation] A Talk on the Future of Analytics in Malaysia

The SAS User Group Malaysia (SUGMa) in association with the Graduate School is organising a talk on the Future of Analytics in Malaysia. We have two speakers for this session. We would like to invite all students and staff for this session and SUGMa will be extending its membership to students who have interests in data sciences as a career.

About the speakers:

Professor Dr Ir Vinesh Thiruchelvam

Topic of discussion: The Future Shifts of Technology using Big Data

Professor Vinesh has 18 years’ experience of a mixture of engineering education/academics, operations and maintenance, facility management, design and project management in various industries ranging from building services/property, oil and gas, district cooling plants, co-generation power plants and the port industry. He has managed deliveries of international projects in Maldives, India, Russia, Iran, UAE, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Vietnam, Brunei and Malaysia in the property sector, ports, oil and gas and power plant industries. He was the principle engineer on the Waste to Energy technology transfer project/programme from 2002 to 2004 under MOSTI & MHLG, Head of the Westport RTG O&M Department from 1998 to 2002 where he managed the facility management, operations and maintenance programmes and technical teams. Having moved to the Middle East in 2005, he focused mainly in the building services/property sector primarily in designing and project delivery of sustainable and energy efficient buildings. During his Middle East stint, he also lectured in the Masters in Energy and Masters in Sustainable Design programmes at the British University Dubai (BUiD) and Heriot-Watt University (HWU) Dubai campuses and served as an IAP member. Upon returning back home to Malaysia in 2012, he has been the Dean of FCET at Asia Pacific University and built the engineering and ICT expertise that will educate in parallel to developing future talents/professionals for the country.

 

Associate Professor Dr Abdul Razak Abdul Hadi

Topic of discussion: Disruptive Change

Dr Abdul Razak is currently the Head of Professional Services and Internationalisation at Universiti Kuala Lumpur Business School. He lectures and researches in the areas of financial markets, corporate finance, investment, banking, and entrepreneurship. He is also an advisor to several small-medium enterprises in Malaysia. As a recognised specialist in finance, he has been appointed as a member of the Scientific Committee for both international and local conferences. He is an active member in the Malaysian Finance Association (MFA) and the Asian Academy of Management (AAM). Besides his passion for assisting entrepreneurs in new business ventures, he also conducts seminars and workshops nationwide on topics related to entrepreneurship, organisational performance and financial management. He has published over 40 research articles in journals and conference proceedings. He is an active trader in Bursa Malaysia Securities and his research currently focuses on financial markets efficiency, energy crisis and entrepreneurial development.
