Training and development

This is an update on the schedule of our Graduate School training provision for the remaining of the year.

We highly value your feedback as we strive to provide you with courses of the highest standards. Your input is invaluable as it sheds light on the efficiency and effectiveness of the content and the delivery of our courses. Researcher Development Programme (RDP)

Introduction to development needs analysis

  • Monday 14 November 2022, 10am – 12nn, H1B13

  • This course will introduce the tool to evaluate and plan personal, professional and career development.

Creative and critical thinking

  • Wednesday 16 November 2022, 10am – 12nn, H1B13

  • This course will explore how to associate creative thinking with problem solving and develop critical thinking.

Drafting a chapter of your thesis

  • Tuesday 22 November 2022, 10am – 12nn, H1B13

  • This course will identify the features of good academic writing, discuss effective writing plan, and consider techniques for starting and finishing a thesis chapter.

Starting your literature review

  • Monday 5 December 2022, 10am – 12nn, H1B13

  • This course will consider the purpose and basic requirements of an effective literature review and provide guideline on overall literature writing process.

Creating a strong argument for your thesis

  • Wednesday 14 December 2022, 10am – 12nn, H1B13

  • This course will discuss the background to the nature of arguments and consider the thesis as an ‘argument’ and its structure.

Online courses

In addition to the face-to-face courses, there is also a range of online courses that you can opt to do. These online courses cover areas ranging from research management to communication as well as dissemination skills, professional conducts to research skills and techniques.
