UNMC Careers Fair 2017 Gives A Glimpse of Future to Students
On the 15th and 16th March 2017, Careers Advisory Service (CAS) brought back its annual large-scale event, University of Nottingham Malaysia Campus (UNMC) Careers Fair 2017! It took place at the Great Hall, started from 10.30a.m. until 4.00p.m. for both days.
This on-campus job fair which deemed as a success by the organisers attracted a strong crowd of approximately more than 2500 students. Over 40 companies participated as the booths were filled with representatives from wide-ranging industries such as healthcare; banking; education; ICT & multimedia; FMCG; property & construction; and engineering.
The event started with an opening ceremony by the Provost and CEO of UNMC, Prof. Graham Kendall, together with Director of Academic Services Patrick Joseph, Director of Student Experience Mavis Tsang, and Head of Careers Advisory Service Alicia Ch’ng. It was officiated by putting the colourful butterflies of various sizes on the board, following the theme for this year, “Flourish Your Career“.
This year’s event was proudly sponsored by Boustead, Mondelez, Ecoworld, and Malaysia SME as platinum sponsors; Maybank, Wipro Unza, Accenture, and Sime Darby as gold sponsors; and Unilever, Nestle, Public Bank, General Electric, Motorola Solutions, RHB Group, Kian Joo, Top Glove, Viva Homes, BP Healthcare, Juris Technologies Sdn Bhd, GSK, DKSH, Citibank, and Sunway Group as silver sponsors; and a number of other reputable companies as co-sponsors.
Most of the employers commented that the students were eager to ask and know more about the opportunities offered by the companies as it led to interactive communication between employers and the students. The students also took the opportunities to drop their resume and play the games carried out by few companies at their booth.
“It’s a great initiative to organise annual careers fair. We, as a student can interact with the representatives from the reputable companies and explore more on the opportunities offered which make us be clearer about our career options,” commented by a number of UNMC students.
