Postgraduate Prize and Postgraduate Teaching Award Winners 2020 Announcement
This post is contributed by Vimaleswari Danapal, Assistant Manager at the Graduate School.
Background
The University of Nottingham Postgraduate Prize Awards recognise accomplishments in research, publications, conferences and contribution to the postgraduate community. Nominations are done through HOS/HOD and each school can only nominate one student. PGR students are also allowed to self-nominate themselves to HOS/HOD for consideration.
The Postgraduate Teaching Award recognises and celebrates exemplars of innovative teaching and support of learning. This award is given to applicant who can show innovative and reflective practice by improving effectiveness in teaching and support of learning, making appropriate changes in learning activities or techniques as well as evaluating and reflecting on the impact of intervention and possibilities for further development. Students are asked to self-nominate themselves with teaching evidences and supporting documents directly to UK Campus for judging.
Tri-Campus Awards
The tri-campus presentation ceremony which was scheduled to take place on 6 May 2020 was unfortunately cancelled due to the pandemic outbreak. Despite the limitations, we still wanted to celebrate our award winners and hence a tri-campus digital presentation was produced as a concerted effort by all three campuses. On behalf of Prof. Deborah Hall, Vice Provost (Research & Knowledge Exchange) and the Graduate School, we would like to wish all award winners many congratulations and all the very best in your future endeavours!
“We at the Graduate School annually give recognition for the hard work and dedication of our outstanding postgraduate research students. These students have shown commitment and passion to their research studies and teaching duties as evident through the selection criteria of the awards which place great value on attributes of research excellence and innovative teaching. It is especially pleasing to celebrate their accomplishments and contribution which serves as a great testament to the high calibre of postgraduate research students at the University. This speaks volumes not only about the quality of our students but also the research and teaching excellence of the University,” said Deepa Kumari Veerasingam, Head of Graduate School.
In her congratulatory video message (embedded below), Professor Deborah Hall, Vice Provost (Research and Knowledge Exchange), gave commendation and recognition to the success of the award winners: “Over the last five years, the Postgraduate Awards have allowed us to celebrate the success of certain postgraduate students who excel in terms of their academic accomplishments, their contribution to the postgraduate community or examples of innovative supported learning. I particularly like to congratulate the four worthy winners. They provide an excellent role model for our postgraduate community and their awards are well deserved.”
