Overview

This session will introduce you to the world of publishing. The pressure to publish has become so intense that publishing has become a big business where it is now being exploited by many unscrupulous publishers who are flocking in droves to capitalise on the perils of many academics. As such there is a need to know what publications get counted and what does. This includes the kind of publications that is publishable and where they can be published.

Aims

  • To assist postgraduate students in producing acceptable papers from their research thesis.

  • To assist new academics in producing research papers with acceptable rigor.

Speaker

T. Ramayah, is currently a Professor of Technology Management, School of Management, Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), Visiting Professor Minjiang University (China), Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) and Adjunct Professor at Sunway University and Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN), Malaysia. He was also a Visiting Professor King Saud University (Kingdom of Saudi Arabia) and Adjunct Professor at Multimedia University previously. He has an h-index of 59 and citation of 15,141 in Google Scholar and i-10 index of 284, his h-index in SCOPUS is 31, with 3982 citations while his h-index in ISI/Clarivate is 23 with 2412 citations. He has supervised numerous PhD/MA/MBA students in the fields of Information Systems, Operations Management, Marketing Management and Organisational Behavior having graduated 70 PhD students, 18 DBA students and 8 Masters student. He has taught courses in Statistics, Operations Management, Research Methods, Forecasting and Computer Literacy at undergraduate level. He is a trained Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) analysis instructor having attended trainings by Professor Joseph Hair (Kennesaw State University), Professor David Kenny (University of Connecticut), Professor Gregory Hancock (University of Maryland), Professor Everarda Cunningham (Queensland University of Technology), Professor Christian Ringle (University of Hamburg) and Professor Ned Kock (Texas A&M International University). He has conducted Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) workshops in Malaysia, Australia, Indonesia, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Singapore, Thailand and India. He has also conducted workshops in UUM, UKM, UTM, UiTM, UMK, UMS, UNIMAS, USIM, UMT, UMP, UTHM, UTEM, UPNM, INTAN, Sunway University, Monash University, Curtin University, INTI International University & Colleges, Nilai University, Linton University College and Polytechnic Colleges in Malaysia.

He has also presented numerous papers at local and international conferences having won 5 “Best Papers” award. His publications, more than 300, have appeared in Information & Management, International Journal of Operations & Production Management, Tourism Management, Journal of Travel Research, Computers & Education, International Journal of Contemporary Hospitality Management, Journal of Environmental Management, Technovation, Journal of Cleaner Production, Business Strategy and the Environment, Corporate Social Responsibility and Environmental Management, Technological Forecasting and Social Change, Journal of Business Ethics, Internet Research, Computers in Human Behavior, Information Systems, Resources, Conservation and Recycling, International Journal of Information Management, Safety Science, International Journal of Production Economics, Journal of Hospitality Marketing & Management, Personnel Review, and Telematics and Informatics among others. He also serves on the editorial boards and program committee of several international journals and conferences of repute.
