Soft Skills for Scientists
On 24th October 2018, the experts from Danone Dumex shared their valuable insights on skills needed by fresh graduates and career opportunities offered in “Danone Dumex – Soft Skills for Scientists”, organised by Careers Advisory Service.
During the sharing session, the Danone Dumex’s Senior HR Business Partner, Ms. Jasmin, shared her insights from the recruiters’ side, which she emphasized that they seek for candidates who have commercial acumen, leadership skill, curiosity to learn and a growth mindset. Besides that, communication aspect, problem solving skill and technical knowledge have been taken into account to be a scientist, or other related jobs.
“It’s not only about the top result, but you also have to be curious. The best product only can be made if you keep being curious to learn and create the best formula or outcome. Curiosity can help you to do better and succeed. In addition, be open, and question yourself, ‘how open are you in adapting?’. Other than that, having agility is very important — intellectual agility and emotional agility, especially on how you manage your emotions.”
She also added, “It’s okay to make mistakes but make sure that you learn from your mistakes. Last but not least, be humble – humility.”
Danone Dumex offers a Management Trainee program every year, which they believe it can be the best start in the graduates’ career journey to discover and learn. The application process starts with the resume submission via Jobstreet or directly to them, followed by phone interview, psychometric test and assessment day. In the final round, the selected candidates will be interviewed by respective directors, and then welcome aboard. For more information on their career opportunity, kindly visit their website.
