Alumni Testimonial: Kenneth Lim (2011)
My Nottingham journey started back in 2007 when I enrolled into the 2+2 MPharm degree programme. Honestly, I was not sure of my decision to study Pharmacy at that time. Back then, I was still figuring out what was my passion. With much hard work and prayers, I graduated in 2011. I could not wait to start my work at that point.
In 2012, I started my pre-registration training in Sarawak General Hospital. During the one-year period, I was trained to be a Hospital Pharmacist. Yet, I was still figuring out my passion. In 2013, I was given the opportunity to handle pharmacy logistics in the rural areas of Sarawak. It was at this point; I found my passion in Public Health and Health Systems. With God’s grace, I was given an opportunity by the government of Malaysia to go to London to obtain my MSc in Economic Evaluation in Healthcare.
Upon returning in 2016, I was assigned to the Planning Division of Ministry of Health Malaysia, in the Section for National Health Financing as a Senior Assistant Director in Putrajaya. I was tasked to work with Harvard University on the Malaysia Health System Research (MHSR) project and was included into the Health System Transformation team. Opportunities came my way to be sent to Australia, South Korea, and United States of America to represent Malaysia in the field of Domestic Resource Mobilisation (DRM). Apart from the various responsibilities, I was also part of the team to support the Minister of Health regarding Health Economics and Health Insurance when Parliament was in session.
Due to family commitment, I had moved back to Kuching. Currently, I am serving as a Pharmacy Logistic Officer in charge of pharmaceutical supply chain for whole state of Sarawak. Looking back at the years since graduation, the MPharm degree in University of Nottingham has not only provided me with a quality education but also a wide understanding of the Pharmacy field. The programme has provided a strong foundation in expanding my knowledge during my career.
I would cherish my experience in the University of Nottingham.
