Public Health Campaign Challenge 2019
Upon the completion of ‘Fight Cancer Cancer Awareness Campaign’ that kept our team hustling for a good 5 months, we decided to give the Public Health Campaign Challenge (PHCC) a shot, with the intention to share our campaign on a greater stage for the experience. PHCC is a national competition held annually by MyPSA during the NoGAPS (National Gathering of Pharmacy Students) where Pharmacy societies from universities all around Malaysia showcase their campaigns held within the past year to stand a chance for the Best Public Health Campaign Award. There were 6 teams that participated this year: AIMST, KPJUC, University of Nottingham Malaysia (UNM), Taylor’s, UiTM and UKM. On the day of the challenge, each of the speakers delivered a 7-minute presentation about their respective projects, accompanied by slides and e-posters. This was followed by Q&A sessions where judges and audiences had the opportunity to raise any questions they had regarding the campaigns. All the other speakers exhibited great oratorical skills and I was glad it felt more like a platform to learn the strengths and flaws of each project than it was like a competition.
The highly anticipated results were announced after what felt like hours, which to our greatest surprise, Fight Cancer Cancer Awareness Campaign was declared Champion in the Public Health Campaign Challenge and I was adjudged the Best Speaker. We were humbled by the outcome and overwhelmed with joy as we bagged both the awards.

The success of this project would not have been possible without the many parties involved, thus here’s to name a few for whom I would like to extend my earnest gratitude to —- all the committee members of Fight Cancer Campaign for their hard work, the School of Pharmacy and our dearest lecturers for their unwavering support. All in all, we are truly obliged for the great honor and recognition PharmNotts has received as a small society. It is a milestone worth celebrating and here’s to many more baby steps for the betterment of PharmNotts!
