UNM receives three nominations at the Policy Impact and Public Engagement Award

The University of Nottingham Malaysia received three nominations at the Policy Impact and Public Engagement Award.

UNM academics bagged three nominations in three separate categories. They are:

Professor Christopher Gibbins, Dr Ir. Fang Yenn Teo and Yih Yoong Lip (Faculty of Science and Engineering, UNM) were nominated for Best Public Engagement Initiative for their engagement with highland communities to discover sustainable solutions for water-related issues at upper Trusan River, Sarawak.

Dr Ben Barton (Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, UNM) was nominated for the Rising Star Award, Policy Impact for his work to build policy makers’ understanding of China’s Belt-and-Road Initiative.

Dr Bavani Ramayah (Faculty of Science and Engineering, UNM) was nominated for the Rising Star Award, Public Engagement for her work in raising awareness of the challenges faced by visually impaired people.

The winners of the awards were announced on 11 January 2021 and the full list of winners is available here.

This annual award aims to recognise the excellent work by the researchers on all three Nottingham campuses in achieving policy impact and engaging with the public with current research.
