Entries for postgraduate photography competition

What does the current situation mean to our postgraduate students?

We are adjusting to the new norms of life during this closure period. While we embrace it differently, we are all experiencing changes in our daily routines, personal life and studies/work.

An extraordinary photo competition for postgraduate students

We recently organised a photo competition where we asked our postgraduate students the aforementioned question and they had to answer it by using only a photo with a caption. We received a total of 12 entries with representation of subjects ranging from restriction and social distancing to online learning, civic responsibility to hope and positivity.

Stay tuned for the announcement of winners on Friday 15 May 2020!

In the meantime, read on to find out more about their replies to the big question.

Entry 3 – The present COVID 19 situation is like a cloud to me. Mysterious and uncertain. Cluster bound and volatile, it’s on the move in all directions. Widespread with no boundaries, scary it seems though lessons a bounty on our being. Unknown beginning and ending, infinite speculations have emerged.

It enables me to eliminate disturbance from outer world and fully utilize the day with my research.

Entry 5 – When people quarantine themselves in their rooms, the outside sofa is occupied by a clowder of cats.

Entry 6 – A Glimmer of Hope Behind Bars – Pressed on every side by troubles, but not crushed. Perplexed, but not driven to despair. Hunted down, but never abandoned. Knocked down, but not destroyed.

Entry 7 – We are all part of this movie playing our roles and responsibilities, helping each other during this difficult time. Stay safe and keep a healthy lifestyle!

Entry 10 – We IN this together! Literally!!

Entry 11 – There are so many unexpected storms in life, and this is just one of them. We do not know how long it will last but definitely not forever. Keep calm, keep faith, keep going, the rainbow on the other side is what makes riding this storm all worth it.

Entry 12 – Having my micro-pipette to accompany me during this difficult time. Miss-ing hectic laboratory life. Hope the MCO will be lifted soon and I can continue with my busy laboratory life.
