Kicked Off the Start of Autumn Semester with Careers Experiential Day 2018
On October 9, for the first time, Careers Advisory Service (CAS) had organised Careers Experiential Day to welcome the freshers to the University with aims to spread careers awareness and provide the best support towards students, from 10am to 2pm, located at Careers Resource Room (HB14).
This careers experiential initiative allowed students to visit to four stations or checkpoints, and gain an eye-opening exposure through CAS services information desk, aptitude test, spin wheel game, and photo booth, where their so-called careers passport will be stamped once they finished their session at each checkpoint. Through this event, the students managed to meet and network with the careers advisers, where it gave them an understanding and insight on careers services and events, the range of opportunities and resources available, and at the same time, had fun and created memories with their friends at Careers Resource Room.
“This event is very helpful in a sense that I got to learn more about different job prospects that are fit to my personality through the activities, such as aptitude test and careers information desk. The staff were super cute and friendly, too!” – Yasmin, Biotechnology Year 1.
Furthermore, the students were encouraged to use CAS services such as resume review, careers advice, online resources; stay alert with our updates on careers events and tips through email blast, Facebook page, and notice boards; and participate in our careers events and activities. In addition, CAS team felt overwhelmed to see the students who came showing eagerness and interest to plan and prepare for their future, where we always believe the earlier you plan for your career, the better you can prepare to enter the workforce after you graduate.
Last but not least, we would like to thank everyone who attended the event and we hope that you had an exciting experience with additional careers information on mind. Stay tuned with our careers updates, scroll our Facebook page @unmccareers regularly and hope to see you soon in our next event! 🙂
