A ‘Belated’ Chinese New Year Celebration
The Graduate School hosted its Chinese New Year celebration on Friday, 26th February 2016. Although it was a ‘belated’ one but it was still not too late to celebrate the most important festival in the Chinese lunar calendar.
The celebration featured the tradition of stirring and tossing of Yee Sang, also known as Spring Toss. Yee Sang literally means “raw fish”, but its pronunciation in Chinese carries a totally different meaning which is “increase in abundance”. As such, Yee Sang became a tradition synonym with abundance, prosperity and vigour.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank all those who came and celebrated with us. We look forward to your participation again in our future events.
May the Year of Monkey 2016 is filled with auspiciousness for all of us! Cheers!
