Images of Postgrad Experience Photo Competition 2016 – Part I
The Images of Postgraduate Experience Photography Competition, organised by the Graduate School, challenges the postgraduate students to capture people’s interest and enthuse them about their postgraduate experience at The University of Nottingham Malaysia Campus (UNMC).
The theme this year is ‘Through the Lens’ where postgraduate students can express, demonstrate and share their postgraduate experience from their own perspectives. For more information, click here.
Here is an example from last year’s competition, for your viewing and reference. We hope that this example can give you the much needed inspiration and idea for your participation in this year’s competition.
My workstation at BB47 has become some sort of a tourist attraction among fellow PhD students. An organised mess to me, or an utter mess to some: the things on my desk reflect four years of my life as a PhD student:
- Having two monitor screens – one for viewing articles, one for writing – is time-efficient.
- Headphones to drown out ambient noise and to send a nonverbal “Do Not Disturb” sign.
- Coffee: black gold, elixir of (PhD) life…I could wax lyrical about this substance that keeps me writing.
- Postcards and ticket stubs from research visits that are a visual reminder to what I’ve done and strive to achieve.
- Medals and ketupat to remind me that I still have fighting spirit, and that some things can be harder than a PhD…
- Other noteworthy-items: a sweater for the freezing office and foreign-language dictionaries for my research.
