New workshop
Shut up & write!
Writing is an important element in academia. During unprecedented times such as now where everyone is restricted to work or study from home and deprived of outdoor activities, this workshop presents a great opportunity to focus on your writing.
We are offering the following sessions via Microsoft Teams, aimed at postgraduate research students who are in their thesis pending period or preparing their annual review write up:
-
Session 1: Monday 13 April 2020, 10am – 12noon
-
Session 2: Tuesday 14 April 2020, 2pm – 4pm
-
Use this token in Microsoft Teams to join the session: bkjn59
The session will be based on the Pomodoro Technique which is a time management technique that is utilised to manage writing task into timed intervals.
We want your opinion
We would like to know how are our postgraduate students doing and what we can do to better support you during this closure period
Poll #2 – With the current RMO/MCO situation, would you want to contribute some quotes/pictures/memes or write a blog post to share among the postgraduate community at the University?
Past poll update
We received 17 responses from our previous poll. The number is rather underwhelming and so we hope to get more responses this time. Please feel free to share the poll with your fellow postgraduate students and ask them to answer it.
Postgraduate Bingo
Have a break, play a game!
Our Postgraduate Students’ Network (PGSN) came out with a postgraduate bingo board for postgraduates to have a little fun amidst your ongoing postgraduate research work.
Workouts & wellbeing guidance
Supporting your health & wellbeing at home
UoN Sport has a series of fun virtual workouts to keep you moving over the coming weeks. They are also streaming live classes on Wednesdays at 1pm (UK time) 8pm (Malaysia time).
Big Sunflower Competition
Grow a sunflower and shine a light across our community
To lighten our paths through this challenging time, UoN Biodiscovery Institute invites everyone at the University to grow sunflowers and share these rays of sunshine via social media with #WeAreUoN #RayOfSunflower and #MillionSunflowers
By growing sunflowers on our windowsills, in our homes and in our gardens (and sharing the results), it is hoped that the local and global University community will have fun, feel closer together and share a sense of achievement.

On the news
Malaysia starts involvement in the Solidarity Trial, a global research effort to test possible treatments for C0VID-19
We are cheering for all who are involved in this trial and we hope that it could help find life-saving drugs and further evaluate their safety and effectiveness.
In the meantime, please continue to observe and follow the safety advice and precautionary measures by our local authorities and University.
