UoN 2020 3MT®

Winner of the tri-campus round

Yoong Xin Pang from the Ningbo campus (UNNC) was awarded the highest score in the tri-campus 3MT® and has been selected to represent UoN in the global online U21 3MT®. Many congratulations!

About 3MT® 

3MT® is an academic research communication competition developed by The University of Queensland (UQ), Australia.

The challenge is for doctoral researchers to explain the complexity and relevance of their research to a non-specialist audience in a concise and engaging way. Presenters have a maximum of three minutes to pitch their research and can only use one slide.

Postgraduate Student Teachers (PST) programme 

Preparing to Teach in Higher Education

  • Monday 21 September 2020, 10am – 12.30pm

  • This course will introduce the practices, roles and responsibilities involved in teaching at a higher education level.

Demonstrating in Laboratory Practicals

  • Monday 21 September 2020, 2pm – 4.30pm

  • This course will consider the purpose and practice of practical classes, and subsequently develop skills in managing such classes.

Health & Safety

  • Wednesday 23 September 2020, 10am – 12.30pm

  • This course will identify hazardous factors and inform preventive measures to ensure that the risks are adequately controlled at all times.

Lecturing for Learning

  • Wednesday 23 September 2020, 2pm – 4.30pm 

  • This course will take on a very practical look at the task of giving a lecture to undergraduates; explore the aspects of preparation and delivery; and build both confidence and abilities of those who are relatively new to the role of lecturing.

  • This course will consider the purpose and practice of assessing and giving feedback on students’ work.

  • This course will give advice on ways of designing, planning and leading small group teaching sessions such as seminars and tutorials.
