Update from our Associate Dean

Happy New Year…

Firstly, let me thank UNM management for giving me the opportunity to serve as Associate Dean of Graduate School, UNM. I started officially on 1 January 2022.

Under the new structure, Graduate School will be managing all strategic and operational matters pertaining to postgraduate research (PGR) at UNM which includes MRes, MPhil and PhD. Our goal is to make Graduate School a one-stop centre to handle all PGR matters while the schools will provide the supervision expertise. In other words, Graduate School will collaborate and support both faculties’ PGR students in line with our aim to establish ‘UNM PGR Community’.

Engagement and Communication are the key to foster UNM PGR Community, therefore Graduate School is committed to engage and communicate with all our stakeholders from time to time via town hall meetings, Learning Community Forums (LCFs), seminars, etc. to get your feedback and suggestions. Please feel free to write to us or drop by at the Graduate School office to meet and discuss with our team your issues and suggestions.

Wishing you all the very best with your PGR journey and may Graduate School be your FRIEND throughout your journey.

Regards

Maniam Kaliannan

Refresh you writing ideas

In this blog post by Professor Pat Thomson from the School of Education, UoN UK, you can explore some useful advice and guidance about refreshing your writing ideas.

“If you are in the middle of revising a draft, or coming to the end of a big text you won’t want to stop right now to read. But now might be the very time that you need to step back. It is always worth considering taking a little time out to refresh your take on academic writing. Through using reading.”
