We are your Graduate School
We understand that starting a research degree can be somewhat unsettling, or even daunting. At the Graduate School, we host induction events for all our new postgraduate research students where you will get to know information about postgraduate life at the University and the wide range of resources and support services available to help you make a successful start to your research degree.
Our induction for new postgraduate research students
Our second postgraduate induction this year was on Friday 26 May 2023. This induction was specifically targeted at new postgraduate research students who were not able to attend our previous induction in March or had joined the University thereafter.
The induction featured welcome talks and introductory presentations by Professor Maniam Kaliannan, Associate Dean of Graduate School and members of staff from the Graduate School. In addition to transformative training and development opportunities, the induction also introduced a range of dedicated support and services for postgraduate researchers.
A glimpse of the postgraduate community
Aside from the details of all-you-need-to-know from us at the Graduate School as a new postgraduate researcher to the slightly less exciting progression guidelines, the induction also featured an introductory presentation about Postgraduate Students’ Network (PGSN) by Muhamad Hishamudin bin Mohmad Hasim, Students’ Association (SA) Postgraduate Officer. PGSN is a representative body of postgraduate students at UNM and it plays an important role in enhancing the postgraduate students’ experience at the University.

Our commitment
We hope that the session provided a much needed platform for direct and meaningful communication and engagement between new postgraduate research students, PGSN and us at the Graduate School.
