Graduate School Hari Raya Celebration
Celebrating Hari Raya
Hari Raya, or the festival of Eid, marks the end of the fasting month of Ramadhan and the start of a new month on the Islamic calendar, Syawal.
In conjunction with the biggest festival celebrated by Muslims worldwide, we recently had our annual Hari Raya celebration on 14 July 2017. The occasion saw a good turnout of postgraduate students who represented a diverse range of culture and religion. This international diversity is one of the many characteristics that makes The University of Nottingham a truly global university.
Like many other festivities, the highlight of the celebration was of course the scrumptious food! A variety of traditional Malay delicacies was served, from lemang (bamboo rice) and rendang (spicy meat dish) to nasi impit (rice) and kuah kacang (peanut gravy).
Once again, we would like to wish all our Muslim friends Selamat Hari Raya!
