Talk on maximising your postgraduate journey

From time to time, the Graduate School would be invited to do a 90-minute talk on Getting Started! A quick guide to maximising your postgraduate journey for part-time postgraduate taught students at our Kuala Lumpur Teaching Centre (KLTC) in Chulan Tower. Thank you to Dr Peter Moug for inviting me to conduct this workshop once more this term. The aim of the workshop is to educate the students on: (1) working effectively in groups; (2) planning their time and projects; (3) creative thinking and problem solving as well as presentation tips. One of the highlights of the workshop is a group task where students were asked to work in groups of three or four to build a freestanding paper tower by using five sheets of A4 paper only. In all my years of overseeing such task, the freestanding paper towers have never exceeded the 100 cm mark. However, on 24 February 2018, the following students exceeded that mark:
They successful built a freestanding paper tower that stood as tall as 121cm. An amazing record! Congratulations to them on achieving a remarkable feat!
Starting from 2018, the Graduate School is looking to enhance its engagement and support for postgraduate taught (PGT) students on campus. Therefore, please write us if you would like us to address specific training needs (to support your postgraduate taught experience), which are not being currently supported via Graduate School’s array of workshops.
