Jan Atkin Prize 2020
The Jan Atkin Prize recipients announced
The University of Nottingham Malaysia recently announced three recipients of The Jan Atkin Prize 2020. The Jan Atkin Prize was established by Emeritus Professor Brian Atkin, who was the former CEO of the University of Nottingham Malaysia from 2003 to 2008, in memory of his late wife Jan.
This prize aims to award worthy students who have met both academic standards and who are deemed to have made the greatest contribution to the campus or the community. The winners receive RM5,000 in cash each and a certificate.
The full list of recipients is as below:
Chung Yu Jin – International Relations with French
Chung Yu Jin (fourth from left) was awarded the ‘Honorable Mention Award’ at the Bali Asia International Model United Nations.
Yu Jin was a Director of Incoming Global Volunteer Non-Corporate Relations (NCR) and currently, she is the Vice President of Partnership Development for AIESEC. She was also elected as President of Partnership Development (PD) for AIESEC and as the Vice President of PHIR-Notts. In addition, she works as an interpreter and administration officer for the Korean Embassy’s event and was awarded the ‘Honorable Mention Award’ at the Bali Asia International Model United Nations. Yu Jin also served as a Freshers’ Night Facilitator during April Freshers’ Night 2019-2020 and shared her memorable experience in guiding with the junior students.
Dulashini Sooriyarachchi – Economics
Dulashini is the school representative of the Nottingham School of Economics (NSE) and was elected the Student Council Chairperson of UNM for 2020/21. She managed to secure the ‘Outstanding Achievement’ award from the Nottingham School of Economics for achieving the highest average in her batch for consecutive years. In addition, she renovated a children’s psychiatric unit to establish the first fully equipped children’s psychiatric ward at the Peradeniya Teaching Hospital, Sri Lanka. She also volunteers as an English teacher at the Shilpa Child Development Home in Sri Lanka, an all-girls orphanage and shelter. In 2016, she led an eye camp event for rural schools in Southern Sri Lanka and provided free vision aid for the students.

Jesper Huang Wei Lun – Business Economics and Finance
Jesper Huang at the KPMG Ideation Challenge.
Jesper is a mentor, and he supports and grooms the next generation of business school leaders and case champions. He is also the President of UN Youth Nottingham 2019/20 and initiated the International Model UN Conference and Welfare Week. Jesper participated in the KPMG Ideation Challenge Global Finals. He is also a Global and National Finalists for the Maybank Go Ahead Challenge and P&G CEO Challenge.
