UNMC Team ranked second in Malaysia at IEEE Xtreme Competition

It was a joyful day for CuddleBiscuits, The University of Nottingham Malaysia Campus‘ (UNMC) very own team that participated in a rather exhilarating IEEE Xtreme Programming Competition 9.0 on Monday 26 October 2015. They spent 24 hours in a self-imposed isolated room, locked in a ruthless virtual battle against teams from all over the world. Fueled by adrenaline, the team members cuddled their minds together to solve a barrage of complex programming problems throughout the day and night. Although they could not come out as winners of the competition yet CuddleBiscuits proudly emerged as one of the top teams in Malaysia.

The preliminary results showed that the UNMC team was ranked second among 30 over participating teams from Malaysia. The members of the team were Brandon Teoh, Phoon Yin Jiat and Swaraj Dube. Upon the end of the competition, the participants were asked to share their experiences to which they said ‘Fun.. Sleepy..’. A special thanks goes to Dr Grance Lim for serving as the team’s proctor.

IEEE Xtreme is a global challenge in which teams of IEEE student members, supported by an IEEE Student Branch and advised and proctored by an IEEE member, compete against each other to solve a set of programming problems during a 24-hour time span. The official results will be released on 2 November 2015.
