Ingenuity18 Taster Session

Ingenuity18’s first taster session was held on 15 December 2017 at the Vinod Sekhar Incubation Centre (VSIC) at the University of Nottingham Malaysia. The event was designed to inspire and develop future leaders and innovators who can help transform society and add to the global impact of the University. It also strove to uncover the next generation of entrepreneurs and innovators at the University of Nottingham Malaysia. In addition, it aimed to find creative solutions to the issues we face in contemporary society. The general idea of Ingenuity18, which is also a competition, is for all students, alumni, early-career researchers and staff to offer solutions to challenges that are currently being faced by society. Ingenuity18 provides knowledge on the process of realising those ideas.

The 90-minute session, which included light refreshments, was conducted by Nengaswary Maniam, an incubation manager at the University, and was joined by 20 students and alumni who have not been involved with the Ingenuity competition previously. The introductory session aimed to create awareness about the journey of innovation and to get insights into what will be happening at future Ingenuity18 events. Participants were also informed that Ingenuity18 is a tri-campus initiative and reminded to submit their initial application by 26 January 2018.

The second taster session was scheduled on 5 January 2018 to cater to others who were not able to participate in the first session. Additionally, with the restructuring of the Ingenuity competition, eager participants should keep an eye out for future events as VSIC will be conducting a range of activities on campus.
