University of Nottingham Malaysia signs MOU with MES Asia
University of Nottingham Malaysia (UNM) signed a Memorandum of Understanding worth RM 1 million with MES Asia on 26 November 2021. MES Asia Sdn Bhd is a subsidiary company of MES Services Limited, providing the services of digital transformation with building information modelling, training courses, seminars, events and technical software platforms to meet the needs of talents, knowledge and BIM technology, and to facilitate industry elites reaching the international standard.
The MOU was signed by the University of Nottingham Malaysia’s Vice-Provost (Research and Knowledge Exchange) Professor Andy Chan and MES Asia Chief Executive Officer, Donna Ng. The MOU will assist in raising the level of knowledge and facilitate the transfer of knowledge between MES Asia and UNM on digital construction and building information modelling using ShareBIM Digital Works Supervision System (DWSS).
In addition, the application and usage of the DWSS will enhance the industry-academic partnership through improvements in teaching, research and in the students’ experience.
The DWSS is a cloud based customized solution for document control/ tracking. Through this partnership, MES Asia will sponsor 50 DWSS licenses, amounting to RM 1 million to UNM over a period of five years.
“As a university we are delighted to partner with leading organisations for the purpose of research and teaching and learning.
MES in particular has been in collaborations with us for many years and we are confident that this partnership will be mutually beneficial for both parties,” Professor Andy Chan said.
In 2019, UNM signed a partnership with MES Asia aims to receive 50 licenses of ShareBIM, amounting to RM2.5million to UNM over a period of five years. ShareBIM is a BIM-enabled Project Management Collaboration Platform and a cloud-based floating platform that does not require specific locations, computers or physical setup and installations.
