University of Nottingham Malaysia’s Award Ceremony

The University of Nottingham organised an Award Ceremony for the recipients of the Jan Atkin Prize, Vice Chancellor’s Medal, Lord Dearing Award, and the Long Service Award on 23 November 2022. At this momentous event, 110 award recipients and their guests were present.

“One of our University values is Ambition, whereby we set the highest standards for ourselves and our work and support each other to achieve them. Through the Award Ceremony, we continue to support people who set high goals for themselves and help them achieve their ambition through encouragement”, Prof Sarah Metcalfe, Provost and CEO of the University of Nottingham Malaysia stated during the Award Ceremony.

The Jan Atkin Prize is an annual award given to three outstanding students, while the Vice Chancellor’s Award recognises exceptional achievements by both students and staff. The notable achievements include, but are not limited to, making an outstanding contribution to advancing equality, diversity, and inclusion in university life and involvement in activities that had a noticeably positive impact on students, staff, or the local community.

The Lord Dearing Award is presented to the University of Nottingham staff for their contribution to enhancing the student learning experience. Staff members with a 15-year commitment to UNM are honoured with the Long Service Award.

Prof Sarah Metcalfe presented these awards to each recipient, congratulating them individually.

“I am delighted to be a part of this memorable event, getting to know the recipients personally and presenting these recognitions from the University,” said the Provost.

Additionally, she announced that the award recipients are star students and colleagues who remained creative and strive to improve the world. “Our vision is to become a University without borders, where we embrace the opportunities presented by a changing world and where ambitious people and creative culture will enable us to make a positive difference. The Award Schemes at Nottingham embrace this mission. You will become aware that those recognised today are highly ambitious people whose unique creativity continues to change the world for the better”.
