Field Trip to AECOM Malaysia
On November 3, 2017, Careers Advisory Service (CAS) organized a field trip to AECOM Malaysia which located at Bukit Damansara; a multinational engineering firm with over forty years in Malaysia, that provides design, consulting, construction, and management services to a wide range of clients. About 33 students joined the field trip and supervised by careers advisor, Mr. Kevin Lim.
The field trip started around 10a.m. until 4p.m. where the students were given the opportunity to know more about AECOM and gain insights on how an engineering company works. Besides that, there was sharing session by AECOM engineers on;
- Building Engineering
- Transportation + BIM
- Water Urban Development
- Construction Services
- Cost Management
- Environmental
- DPE
Other than that, the students got the chance to network during lunch (Tifin by Kumars at Damansara City Mall), go for office tour and learn on “Engineers On-the-Job”. During “Engineers On-the-Job”, students were challenged to do a drop test; an egg drop from the 8th feet and it would not break. They were given scissors, plastics bags, newspaper, straws and cellophane tape. Out of the 6 teams, 2 teams successfully protected the egg.
In addition to that, this event became more memorable as the students had the opportunity to close-up with Dato Sri Kandan, Chairman of AECOM Malaysia; Country Manager, Patrick Wong and many more. The Q&A panel was interactive and some questions asked were related to working oversea opportunities and challenges when handling a project.
CAS hope that the students gained additional knowledge and exposure, and also valuable experience to help preparing themselves for a better future. Stay tuned with our upcoming events and check on our Facebook page UNMCcareers for more updates! 🙂
