Celebrate the Year of Luck with CAS
On the day of Chap Goh Mei, Careers Advisory Service (CAS) celebrated the last day of Chinese New Year (CNY) with the students! As we were still in the festive mood, CAS welcomed the students to join Careers Open House to celebrate the year of Pig, which representing luck, good fortune, wealth and prosperity, located at HB14, from 12pm to 2pm. More than 90 students attended and it was heartwarming to see them coming with their friends, gathered and had fun together.
Other than being served with Chinese cuisine, the students got the opportunity to enjoy the Mandarin oranges, fortune cookies, pineapple tarts, peanut cookies, jelly, and more. They got to try out their luck at the registration counter too! They had to choose one ang pow and see what is inside (whether they get Heng, Ong or Huat), which they will get a small token like notebook, chocolates or sweets, depending on the fortune that they got. It was a fun session as the students were thrilled to know about their ‘fake’ fortune! 😀
The students also had the chance to take a personality test and mingle with the careers advisers to know and understand better about their career planning and services offered by us. Please feel free to drop by our office anytime and stay updated via our Facebook page.
Benedicte Anthony, a second year BA (Hons) in International Relations with Spanish student said, this was her first time experiencing CNY celebration.
“As an international student, it was nice discovering more about Chinese culture – it was also my first time trying peanut cookies and fortune cookies, and I certainly do not regret coming to this open house. I also had an opportunity to take a personality test to better understand our strengths and weaknesses and to know which career paths we should be able to work best in. Thanks again to CAS for organizing this event and I’m looking forward to participating in more to come.”
Last but not least, CAS would like to thank everyone who has attended the open house and we hope to see you in our upcoming events soon!
