Shaping Futures: Recapping UNM Career and Internship Fair 2024
The University of Nottingham Malaysia (UNM) Careers and Internship Fair 2024 #UNMCIF24, has concluded with great success! Spanning over two bustling days from March 5th to 6th, the Central Plaza and Trent building were alive with the vibrant energy of students engaging with a multitude of esteemed companies.
The event commenced with an inauguration by our esteemed Vice Provost of Teaching and Learning, Prof. Hazel Melanie Ramos, alongside the Director of Student Experience, Mavis Tsang, and the Head of Careers Advisory Service (CAS), Alicia Ch’ng. Following a warm welcome speech from the Vice Provost, attendees were treated to an engaging drum gimmick featuring sponsors and the UNM Chinese Cultural Society.
With over 50 leading corporations and partners in attendance, students had the opportunity to explore a diverse range of industries and establish valuable connections with potential employers. In addition to networking opportunities, the fair offered numerous activities aimed at assisting students in their career journeys.
Noteworthy among these were the Speed CV Review sessions, facilitated by esteemed partners such as JobStreet, HSBC Bank, PWC, Avery Dennison, and Sun Pharma. Students eagerly took advantage of this opportunity to have their resumes critiqued and refined, thus enhancing their prospects in the competitive job market.
Another highlight of the event was the LinkedIn Photoshoot, supported by the University’s Digital Arts Guild (DAG). Attendees seized the chance to capture professional profile pictures for their LinkedIn accounts, enhancing their online presence in the professional sphere.
Furthermore, the CAS booth provided invaluable career resources and guidance to students, ensuring they maximized their experience at the fair. From interactive games like Net Flick to enticing Career Quest contest, attendees were kept engaged and entertained throughout.
To add to the festive atmosphere, food trucks lined the premises, offering a variety of delectable treats to fuel both attendees and guests. The free-flowing popcorn and cotton candy carts were particularly popular, attracting hungry snackers throughout the fair.
In reflection, #UNMCIF24 was undeniably a triumph, evident in the enthusiastic turnout of students and the presence of reputable companies. As students forge meaningful connections with top businesses, we remain hopeful that the fair will serve as a catalyst for their future career endeavours.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all who attended and supported us in executing this successful event. Until next year’s #UNMCIF25, farewell and best wishes on your career journeys!
