Kickstart Your Early Career Journey: CAS Open House Recap
On September 4th, the Careers Advisory Service (CAS) threw a special CAS Open House just for the newest Foundation student intake. We know how exciting (and perhaps a little overwhelming) it can be to start this new chapter, so we designed this event to introduce students to the support they will have access to throughout their time at the University of Nottingham Malaysia (UNM).
It was not just about info overload—we turned career planning into a fun, interactive experience! Instead, students participated in a creative scavenger hunt-style activity, where they moved through a series of checkpoints designed to introduce key services and resources available through CAS. Let’s take a look at what each checkpoint had to offer:
- Kick-start Sign-up: Students got an early start on their career journey by learning how to build their profiles and exploring the services CAS offers throughout their university years.
- Pathway Planner: This checkpoint helped students explore academic and career paths, with advisers offering guidance on aligning their studies with future career goals.
- CAS Event Highlights: We showcased the exciting workshops, employer talks, and networking events available throughout the year, highlighting opportunities for students to enhance their skills and career prospects.
- MyCareer Tour & Explore: Students logged into the MyCareer portal, gaining hands-on experience navigating job postings, internships, and career resources to aid their career planning.
- Pic Perfect: Students snapped fun photos while connecting with CAS on social media, ensuring they stay in the loop with events, job postings, and key updates. Plus, a photo keepsake from their first week at UNM!
Make career planning fun, informative, and hands-on from the very beginning! By the end of the event, our Foundation students left with more than just a list of services—they got to explore and experience what CAS has to offer in the most engaging way possible.
