MAD Fund Project 2019: Creating a Child-Friendly Learning Environment

The project was held from 14 March to 29 May 2019 at two standard 6 classrooms, SJK (T) Ladang Semenyih. The objective of this project was to give back to society and improve the students’ educational environment. It corporates the idea to support a quality child-friendly environment for children to enjoy learning. The group involved in the project were, Harani Sandanasamy, Mangeet Kaur Khera Mendar Singh, Salma Izzati Binti Mohamed Jagkeira and Geerthanaa Santhiran who were supervised by Dr. Lee Kean Wah, Director of Undergraduate Studies, School of Education.

The project was held to enhance the classroom environment by creating a space that was more conducive to learning. In addition, the University also donated the school some books for the school’s library. We decorated the classroom with learning materials related to the topics that the students were currently learning. We learned many new skills during this program including how to be creative when designing the information displayed. The most challenging part for us was the partnership and collaboration with the teachers insetting the project out in the right direction.

The MAD Money fund aided this project by providing the students with the proper funding to make their projects possible. We hope that the MAD Money fund will help more establishments nearby, especially schools, in the future in order to improve the quality of life for the students.
