Literature review and academic writing
*This is a pilot course

  • This course will consider the purpose and basic requirements of an effective literature review and provide guideline on overall literature writing process.

  • This course will get you thinking about your career development and show you how to improve your chances of landing a job.

  • This course will consider and discuss the skills of preparing an effective presentation. It is a prerequisite to the practical sessions.

Mastering your interview skills 

Wednesday 16 June 2021, 2pm – 4pm

In collaboration with Careers Advisory Service, we are partnering with Dyson for a webinar designed to provide you with advice and guidance on industrial job hunting and career development. This webinar consists of a sharing session by Dr Kelvin Ho who is a Senior Engineering Manager at Dyson, and a mock interview session* where industry expert from Dyson will have a one-to-one interview with students.

*Slots for the mock interview are limited and on a first-come-first-serve basis so hurry up and register now!

Research integrity week

A reminder on a series of webinars which highlight a range of topics including digital research, research culture and the ethics of using big data 

The University of Nottingham Research Integrity and Research Ethics Committee, with the Head of Research Integrity and the help of Researcher Academy, is organising a Research Integrity Week.

Research ethics and integrity in everyday research: Opportunities, challenges, tools and networks

  • This session will explore approaches to embedding ethics in research projects and mobilising research integrity principles in research planning.

  • This session will discuss questions such as: What type of research is rewarded in academic hiring and promotions? Do we value research that is very rigorous? How can we shape our rewards system to improve the quality of our research?

On our blog

Connecting with new postgraduate students 

We appreciate that this is an unusual time for our postgraduate students, even more so for those who have just joined us. In our continuous effort to mitigate the impact of this prolonged period of restricted circumstances and allow our new postgraduate students to have the communal feel of a real university environment, particularly postgraduate camaraderie, we held a postgraduate induction on 28 May 2021. This induction was specifically targeted at new postgraduate research students who were not able to attend our previous induction in February or had joined the University thereafter.
