University of Nottingham signs MOU with Newcastle University Medicine Malaysia

The University of Nottingham Malaysia (UNM) and Newcastle University Medicine Malaysia (NUMed) signed an MoU on 1 September 2021.  The MoU is designed to engender collaboration and mutual learning for the production of an Inter-professional Education (IPE) programme between the two Universities.

The MoU was signed by UNM Vice Provost (Research and Knowledge Exchange) Professor Andy Chan, UNM Head of School of Pharmacy Professor Ting Kang Nee, NUMed Dean of Academic Affairs, Dr Paul Hubbard and NUMed Associate Professor, Dr Sarah Lontac Nufable.

At the signing acknowledgement meeting, Dr Georgina Marsh, UNM’s head of the IPE programme at the School of Pharmacy said, “We are looking forward to this collaboration with NUMed, and are excited about the opportunity for the students, from multiple healthcare professionals, to work together, helping to enhance their productivity in multi-disciplinary teams as future healthcare professionals. We believe this will optimise communication between the professions, while giving the students a great chance to network and make friends from another University as well.”

“Inter-professional learning between different healthcare professionals will help set the foundation and help students understand the importance of working as a team in the healthcare setting. This collaboration with NuMed is so significant for us to build and nurture our future healthcare providers. I am glad that we have been given this wonderful opportunity to work with NuMed academics and students,” said Professor Ting.
