Coffee & Cake Session 5/2019

We hosted another round of Coffee and Cake session on 27 September 2019. This was the fifth session this year and the turnout, comprised of new and senior postgraduates, was the highest we have ever had!

A warm welcome

The session began with a brief welcome address by Ms Deepa Kumari Veerasingam, Head of Graduate School wherein she talked about the nature of the session and further greeted the postgraduates, especially the new ones, with encouragement to stay connected with the Graduate School throughout their postgraduate journey at the University. It was followed by a farewell message to Dr Jiin Woei Lee, Research Training and Development Manager who is leaving the University after 5 years of service.

A farewell

The postgraduate social space echoed with blessings and well wishes as the postgraduates and members of the Graduate School came together to bid farewell to Dr Jiin. The afternoon was dedicated to reminisce joyous moments of the past years between Dr Jiin and the postgraduates.

We wish Dr Jiin continued success in all her future endeavours.

Dr Jiin Woei Lee expressed her gratitude for the farewell event and conveyed her best wishes to all.

A variety of food

In view of the special farewell occasion, we prepared a spread from Red Velvet cake and bomboloni doughnuts to roti jala (net bread) with curry.

A new term

Olaoluwa Duro-Bello (fondly known as Ola), the outgoing Postgraduate Students’ Officer, talked about the upcoming election of a new Students’ Association (SA) Executive team and further encouraged postgraduates to apply and/or nominate potential candidates for the post.
